Looks like, that older Androids are not able to download Data collect version 5 (BOINC 7.18-) Example: https://wuprop.statseb.fr/results.php?hostid=330286 <core_client_version>7.16.16</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> app_version download error: couldn't get input files: <file_xfer_error> <file_name>data_collect_v5_5.14_arm-android-linux-gnu__android_arm_pie</file_name> <error_code>-200 (wrong size)</error_code> </file_xfer_error> </message> ]]> Thank You! |

What Android version is giving you this problem? The oldest version I'm using is 8.0 and that works fine. Pete

The minimum Android version to run Boinc projects is apparently 4.1. Looking back through my old and now disused android devices I have found the minimum version I've used has been 4.4. However, I did run for a very short time an Android 3 device using Native Boinc which can run only on versions below Android 5 Native Boinc hasn't been updated for eons but you can still download it "https://nativeboinc.org/site/uncat/start" of course it may no longer work with wuprop or anything else.... or get yourself a more modern used Android device such as a Samsung Galaxy S9. You can get them for little money if you don't mind a few knicks and scratches, a crack in the display and what not. It will be faster than your old tablet. I have 10 of them running for WCG.

Thank You for your minds. I have used Native Boinc long time ago on few very old Android phones. It worked perfectly, now I see 23k WUProp credits on one of these devices, but after maybe 2020 I had no more luck with this version. But problem is not here. I have 3000+ WUProp credits on my old tablet, it still worked in the middle of 2025 with same Android and BOINC versions. Now it working perfectly with Einstein tasks, but WUProp tasks stuck while downloading. As I mentioned before, I noticed at least 5 more hosts experiencing download problem with Data collect version 5 for BOINC 7.18-. It can be server side problem, so I opened this discussion with hope that any of admins notice it and check situation. I know, that here are very few hosts with old BOINC versions, but if this is bug, it need to be investigated. :) |

Do You know more? Very good choice was Universe, unfortunately gone... |

Yeah, Universe was great! The only other project I support on Android is Asteroids. It can take a while to get tasks but then tasks keep coming. Other than that Android support has diminished unfortunately. |

Final thought. Make sure you are running the latest version of Boinc for Android which is 8.2.8. That example you posted is an Android 10 running Boinc version 7.16.16 which might be the problem. Pete
