https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=15836#120659 The person who started that thread at the BOINC site is the admin for BitBoinc. He is warning folks that someone has taken his apps/code and is using them at Beacon@Home Dev for nefarious purposes. And the thread referenced at LTT is now gone? Not sure what is going on there. Finally, I see a claim that BitBoinc is somehow nefarious itself, to crack bitcoin wallets. I am not seeing that at all. No idea where that rumor got started, but it's clearly not true. His code is on GitHub for inspection, if anyone is curious. |

Re: Beacon@Home Dev Thanks everyone for the heads up! I kinda figured it was something nefarious since I couldn't find anything about a BOINC project. All I found was a bunch of suspicious websites that I didn't want to visit based on their descriptions in the search results. |

Beacon@home Dev is a legit project. It wasn't supposed to be listed here on WuProp since its an invite only development box for development purposes. I've been running it since October 4th. So I am not sure why it's suddenly appearing on WuProp. I've asked Seb if he can please remove it from here because no one else will be able to run the project for the hours or badges. Kind of unfair to everyone who's chasing hours/badges here. The production version is coming soon. |

Isn't that kinda unfair to those that have already spent the time & resources to run the Project ? https://signature.statseb.fr/sig-1323.png |

I told them this before they signed up for the project and ran the apps. This is strictly internal development that wasn't meant to be public in any way. I'm still not even sure how it got on WuProp after ~20 days of running. |

Normally it's just someone turning on an old BOINC client and something uploaded with hours but it won't be many hours. One clue is to check last 24 hours to see if anything has been returned Hi, At this moment, I can neither confirm or deny. When used properly, AI makes it significantly easier to implement fixes, analyze results, and review the project’s server-side logic. Enigma@Home is currently undergoing a review of the hundreds of millions results generated over its years of operation, the correctness of its server-side behavior, and its task distribution and validation processes. Some bugs have been found, but none are serious. Those identified invalidate only a very small fraction of the returned results. Improvements to task generation and distribution have also been implemented. The project is undergoing a major overhaul, and security vulnerabilities identified by AI are also being addressed. If I finish before others crack the remaining messages encrypted using the M3/M4 Enigma machines, the project may be reactivated, although not on the same scale as before. The project’s biggest challenge—and the source of most of its problems—was the race to keep as many tasks available as possible. AI now partially manages the project and achieves much better results with a limited number of tasks, as this allows it to continuously analyze results and implement fixes or upgrades as needed. In the future—if the project is reactivated—the existing applications will probably be extended slightly to include features that have proved necessary during testing over the past few months. The nature of the tasks will also change: they will likely be short, making them suitable for less powerful GPUs, and released only in short batches. Until all fixes have been implemented and the server-side systems updated, the project must remain inaccessible from outside. I realize it is somewhat unfair that I am processing all the test tasks myself and am therefore the only person accumulating any credits and processing time. However, because of the runtime statistics maintained by the project, I cannot disable this entirely without distorting those statistics, as some of them are directly connected to BOINC credits and runtime. |

Apparently Beacon@Home is now active, but just after getting to the site adding myself and computers the site is now unreachable, too many people maybe? Don't worry still working it was me it seems. It is running the old Goofyx Monkeys project and a Radiation detector project Site is https://beaconathome.org/ Conan |

Beaconathome has stabilized and is a Project by Skillz who is a known person in the BOINC community. I have created an account and loaded 5 systems for NCI tasks which do not impact my other projects. Respectfully Bill F In October 1969 I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; There was no expiration date.

I also created an account several days ago at Beacon@Home and have been running the 4 NCI "Monkey" tasks continuously since that time. Would be nice to see Sebastian add them to the task list counters. I see the Radiation Monitor (R@H detector) (beta test) tasks are already being counted here so hopefully the rest will appear shortly. |

I also love it when people either bring back older Boinc Projects, or start new ones, as it not only brings in new people it also gives those that have been crunching awhile to do something 'new for them'. |

https://thepuzzle.cloud/ This project corrupts the content of the Boinc client. |

https://thepuzzle.cloud/ Shamelessly stolen idea from BitBOINC and even cloned same 71st puzzle. I did not expect such action from Rytis, PrimeGrid admin. He could have communicated and joined the powers of 2 projects and maybe negotiate a share in case of puzzle solving, or at least start with puzzle #72 if there are no other ideas to crack some wallet with volunteers computers. Not surprised it's easy to spin up a new project with AI but at least dont steal from fellow projects [here should be a smiley with rolling eyes] Sooooooooo disappointing. https://thepuzzle.cloud/ For some of the projects the info on the projects tab and on the taks tab became incomplete or was no longer visible at all. Also the data on the Statistics en the Disk tab became faulty After removal of the project the data returned to normal. |

https://thepuzzle.cloud/ That is only believed if you're a BitBOINC shill and refuse to believe actual facts. Neither Beacon or the puzzle were stolen. |

https://thepuzzle.cloud/ Same exact things happened to my 3 PC's. Had to SUSPEND all computing 1st, STOP BOINC, RESTART BOINC, REMOVE the corrupting project mentioned, then I could resume the tasks that previously were ''missing". After about 2 hours everything appears to be back to normal without that bad project. Time will tell if any other damage was done to the BOINC DATA FOLDERS. |
